Mother of Fair Love Scholarship

Each year a student in the leaving class will be chosen to receive the Mother of Fair Love Schorlarship.  The scholarship is awarded to the student who has displayed a continued determination and interest in a particular area in which to work following graduation.

Head Student

Each year  a Head Student is chosen to represent the student body from Primary One to School Leavers’ class.  This student will be a model of excellence for students.  They will have proven themselves down through the years as being trustworthy, reliable and all round exemplary role models for their peers.

School Trip

An overnight class trip is organised each year for the Schools Leavers’ Class.  The class and class teacher determine the destination.  Saving for this trip begins in September.

Debutant Ball

A debs dance is held annually in June at the local hotel for all School Leavers.  Staff from Mother of Fair Love School attend this memorable event which always proves to be a highlight of the year.

Graduation

A graduation ceremony for the school leavers take place in the school in June.  This is the final day for students and is an important one, marking students’ transition from childhood into adulthood.  Parents, guardians and family attend this event which takes place in the school hall one week before the end of term.

Computer Room

A new computer room was opened in Mother of Fair Love School on January 26^th 2016 following a significant fundraising drive in conjunction with Rotary Kilkenny, the school Parent Group and the DES.  The fundraising enabled out school to provide whiteboards and laptops to each individual classroom and to upgrade one classroom with its own individual computer stations and whiteboard and with facilities for staff training.

Quiz

Our school takes part in an annual Quiz Competition which is held for Special Schools throughout Ireland and finals take place at a school venue in the midlands area.  Mother of Fair Love School practices throughout the year and has many times achieved a place in the top three positions.

Sport Play Area Room

A soft play area room was opened in summer of 2013 and is used in conjunction with a    training programme as laid out by the OT.
